Rivers State Governor Names Edison Ehie Chief of Staff in Political Shake-Up

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the immediate-past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as his new Chief of Staff. Ehie, a close ally of Governor Fubara, takes over from Hon. Chidi Amadi, who is related to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

The recent development stems from Ehie's resignation on Sunday night, relinquishing his roles as Speaker and representative for Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly. This decision has sparked inquiries into the motivations behind his political shift.

It's important to note that the peace meeting, facilitated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, resulted in the recognition of Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the House Speaker. However, there was no specific provision instructing Ehie to vacate his seat as a House member in the resolution signed by the involved parties. This move highlights Governor Fubara's trust in his political ally, reshaping key positions within the state administration.
