Professor Ani of Federal University of Owerri Emerges Unopposed as APC Candidate for Ebonyi South Bye-Election
In the party primary held at Afikpo North Local Government Secretariat, Ebonyi South Headquarters, Professor Ani secured 281 votes out of 285 cast. The electoral panel, led by Akin Akinsehinwa, announced that the process adhered to the Electoral Act and APC's constitution. Notably, the primary was uncontested, as Mrs Ann Agom Eze, another aspirant, failed to return her form and skipped the screening.
This bye-election, conducted by INEC, aims to fill the vacancy left by Senator Dave Umahi, who assumed the role of Minister of Works appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
Senator Umahi, in a recent visit to the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, endorsed Professor Ani as the APC consensus candidate for the bye-election. Expressing total support for the candidate, Umahi declared Ebonyi as a stronghold for the APC and emphasized the importance of showcasing unwavering commitment in the upcoming election, the first under the leadership of the state governor.
